Today I printed and folded 200 bulletins for a funeral on Saturday. Our office administrator only works Monday and Tuesday, so occasionally it winds up being my responsibility. Frankly, there are times when I get quite annoyed at having to do something like this, but not today.
Today I decided to pray for Frances’ family as I folded. Perhaps it was partly because of this article about inviting Jesus into what we are already doing. Perhaps it was because this woman is so beloved by the congregation and community. Perhaps it is because we had a snow storm last Sunday and worship was cancelled and so I am all ready for this Sunday and don’t have to think about writing a sermon in addition to a funeral reflection.
For whatever reason, these bulletins were mindfully, prayerfully folded and it was a privilege and a blessing to do so.
And that’s my window on God’s world.
