Most people know that I have a pretty low Christology… and while I believe that Jesus was both human and divine, I believe that we are all human and divine. Jesus tapped into that capacity to be intimate with God in a way that no other human has been able to. And so, I worship God, the Divine Presence, the Sacred and so on, but not Jesus. This does not diminish him in my life, in fact, it may magnify him. As they way he lived is more important than the circumstances of his birth and death.

Having said all that, a few months ago, I purchased a Jesus doll… and my husband tends to treat him as a religious ‘Elf on the Shelf.’   So here he is, lifted up high, as if I were about to worship him!
